A state lawmaker from Maine called the state’s policy on transgender participation in girls’ and women’s sports “extreme” and warned that it could cost schools millions in federal funding.
State Rep. Laurel Libby, R-Auburn, appeared on OutKick’s “The Ricky Cobb Show” and reacted to last week’s spat between President Donald Trump and Maine Gov. Janet Mills. The two butted heads over the state’s transgender participation policy in girls’ and women’s sports after the president signed an executive order to prohibit those types of rules.
Mills added that she imagined the outcome of the investigation was “predetermined” and that it was not about what is happening on the playing field, but “whether a President can force compliance with his will, without regard for the rule of law that governs our nation. I believe he cannot.”
